Picnic in the Park - 2018

The 2018 event featured five hours of music, dance, comedy and carnival delights, welcoming audiences old and new.  The main stage saw wonderful performances from Kelly's Heroes, Ska-Amanga and Maria's Singers and many others. East Midlands Caribbean Carnival Network also performed for a third year running with costumes, music, parade and dance.

The sun shone on the righteous this year as Picnic in the Park celebrated its 37th year!

Charnwood Arts began this event with Rosebery Arts as a three day event back in 1980 and many hundreds of artists have graced Loughborough's beautiful Queen's Park since that date, including parades and performances in the town.

Charnwood Arts' 2014 Picnic in the Park set out to present two linked themes.

'Over By Christmas' set out to acknowledge the significance of the landmark Carillon building that stands at the heart of Queen's Park. With support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and working within the auspices of the Charnwood Great War Centenary Project, the newly created Tommy Atkin's Folk Band, Bill Brookman Productions and other guests provided an afternoon of entertainment under the ever watchful presence of the memorial to the fallen.
